CORONA TESTS IN Vienna.

for businesses.

Information and appointments for Coronavirus testing

IHR LABOR is now offering PCR tests, rapid antigen tests and antibody tests for Covid 19.

To carry out the corona tests, i.e. a throat and nasal swab (PCR test), a nasal swab (rapid antigen test) and / or a blood sample (antibody test) in your company, an appointment must be made in advance by telephone at +43 1 203 67 74 in which we are required to discuss the process and all measures in detail.

PCR test

Direct virus detection of SARS-CoV-2 is possible using a PCR test. It is therefore the only reliable test to detect an acute infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. During this examination, a throat and nasal swab will be taken. Please note that direct virus detection using PCR is only ever a snapshot.

Rapid antigen test

Antigen tests can be used to identify people with active SARS-CoV-2 infection. The gold standard for detecting SARS-CoV-2 is RT-PCT and should be used to check positive antigen test results. Due to the lower sensitivity of antigen tests compared to RT-PCR, a negative antigen test result does not reliably rule out a SARS-CoV-2 infection. Antigen tests are only viable to a limited extent when it comes to the detection in asymptomatic patients but can contribute to the rapid and early identification of symptomatic or highly infectious patients.

A nasal swab is taken for the test.

Antibody determination

We use the CE-certified “Elecsys® Anti-SARS-CoV-2 S” test from Roche to determine antibodies. The test detects antibodies against the spike protein (S-lgG) of SARS-CoV-2 in a quantitative method. When looking at a natural course of infection, these are formed after roughly 3-4 weeks. The test is also suited to prove vaccination success and corresponds to the international WHO standard (NIBSC 20-136). We therefore provide the quantitative results in the WHO unit BAU/ml (Binding Antibody Units). A positive result measuring from 15 BAU/ml indicates the presence of neutralizing antibodies.

Our test for detecting neutralizing antibodies is in line with that of the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer protection, thus falling under the “clear detection of neutralizing antibodies”.

A blood sample will be taken for this.

When does a Corona test make sense?

From a medical point of view, PCR testing makes sense if there is a suspicion of being infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. This is especially true if you have symptoms such as fever, dry cough or shortness of breath and / or if you have had contact with a sick person or people from crisis areas. An active infection can still be determined with people who are (still) symptom-free – This helps determine whether the person tested is the virus carrier.

In the case of antibody testing, it should be emphasized again that this should only be carried out around 4 weeks after the first symptoms appear. Only then can one determine whether a Covid-19 infection with the coronavirus has already run its course. Any immunity is the subject of various studies.

Medical findings of the Corona tests

There are two ways to get your results for PCR and antibody tests: Depending on your request, we will either send them to you by post or you will receive an email as soon as the results can be downloaded from the online platform BefundPost.

The medical findings are usually made within 24-48 hours after the samples arrive at IHR LABOR 1220 [1].

If the test result is positive, IHR LABOR carries out the legally required EMS report.

It will take around 20 minutes to determine the results of your rapid antigen test. You will then receive the written report with your result either on site or you can download the report from the online platform BefundPost.

If the result of this rapid test is positive, we recommend performing a PCR test to check it’s validity.
